A community-first approach to tourism

Wednesday, 9 May – 15:15 – 16:00

What does your youth tourism business have that a traditional community philanthropy organisation doesn’t? The power to leverage market demand as a catalyst for social good. During this session Rhea Simms of G Adventure’s Planeterra Foundation will discuss why tourism is an important catalyst for community development and how bringing women into the tourism value chain can create valuable ripple effects for generations to come. With more than 20 years of experience in tourism for good, G Adventures continues to provide life-changing experiences through small group travel. Rhea will share some of the best practices adapted by G Adventures and the Planeterra Foundation to improve impact and success while minimising the potential negative effects of tourism on a community.
